Stephen Amell Joins Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Sequel

Stephen Amell just can’t stop playing comic book characters. The Arrow star trades in his bow and arrow for hockey sticks for his new gig.

The 33-year-old actor just signed on to appear in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sequel. He’ll play vigilante Casey Jones who eventually becomes a love interest for April O’Neil (Megan Fox). Someone’s gotta clean her pipes and Leonardo and company aren’t exactly up for task 😉

Amell reportedly beat out a half-dozen actors for the part. They all tested over the weekend but his chemistry with Fox convinced Paramount execs to pick him. He joins recently-announced addition Alessandra Ambrosio. The supermodel will romance Will Arnett’s character Vernon Fenwick in the second installment.

Even though the first film received generally negative reviews, it raked in over $485 million worldwide. Well beyond industry expectations which explains why a sequel is coming. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 is scheduled for June 3, 2016. Dave Green takes over directing duties from Jonathan Liebesman.
