Dance movies are back this summer with the release of Step Up 4 which had its first trailer officially released this morning. Directed by music video director and former Ashley Tisdale boyfriend Scott Speer, the film looks like it sat comfortably in Speer’s realm of knowledge as the trailer shows off multiple dance action sequences. John Chu also stepped in as producer and you can see his capable dance hands sprinkled throughout the trailer as well bringing his signature, blockbuster effects and concepts to the world of dance.
Starring Kathryn McCormick of So You Think You Can Dance fame along with hottie Ryan Guzman, the story follows Emily (McCormick), the daughter of a wealthy businessman, who arrives in Miami with aspirations of becoming a professional dancer, but soon falls in love with Sean (Guzman), a young man who leads a dance crew in elaborate, cutting-edge flash mobs.
Placing all the moves on the dancers were choreographers Christopher Scott who is known for his genre-bending style for The LXD along with one of So You Think You Can Dance’s most popular contestants-turned-choreographers, Travis Wall. While the story itself may not be more than been-there-done-that, it looks like the money spent on effects, concepts and choreography will surely pay off and excite fans of dance anywhere.
