Adidas: Originals Star Wars 2010-2011 Collection

Last winter, adidas unveiled their debut Originals Star Wars Collection. I guess their first line was a success, because they’re back with a brand new collection for Fall 2010. Instead of footwear inspired by Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader and Yoda, this time around R2-D2, C-3PO (both seen above), Boba Fett, Jabba the Hutt and Han Solo in Carbonite get the adidas treatment.

To be perfectly honest, I’m a little surprised adidas launched a second collection. During Brian and my trip to Europe this past Spring, any retail store that sold the products had them drastically reduced. Not only were they hella cheap, but there was plenty of stock, which to me signaled a lack of demand. Also in North America, I barely even saw the merchandise present at adidas stores when they were first shipped out. So I assumed there wasn’t much interest from shoppers and stores.

Also, when I checked out the leftover stock, I wasn’t impressed with the quality of the remaining shoes and mostly the apparel. The shoes designs looked more cartoonic than I had expected, and the clothing looked super tacky. To be fair, anywhere I shopped, the Skywalker shoes were all sold out. So I assume those were a hit. Out of all the designs, they were the ones I wanted.

From the new collection, I’d like to see the Jabba the Hutt and C-3PO & R2-D2 shoes in person. If they don’t look overly fake and cheesy, I’d definitely buy them. What do you think of the new collection? Any pique your interest?

I saw the Han Solo ones in San Francisco. They are pretty nice, I might get them off the site. They aren’t cartoon-ey at all.

  • thank you very nice adidas models
