What a great way to kick off the week! Earlier this month, the poster and first teaser trailer for Star Trek: Into The Darkness was revealed. Today, the first full trailer has just been released and the movie looks epic! The intensity and music in the trailer reminds me of the newly released Zach Snyder trailer for Man of Steel. So many good movies in 2013!!
In case you don’t already know, here’s the premise of this upcoming new J.J. Abrams film: “When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated everything the fleet stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a “one man weapon of mass destruction.”
In this trailer, we here Pike (Bruce Greenwood) tell Kirk, “There’s greatness in you, but not an ounce of humility. But there’s going to come a moment when you’re wrong about that. And you’re going to get yourself, and everyone under your command, killed.” The film stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, and Zoe Saldana and hits theatres May 17, 2013. Enjoy the first full length trailer below.
*The trailer has been removed from YouTube, but you can watch it on iTunes here.

I like how they’re going with new villains for this alternate timeline. Had they gone with Khan I think a lot of people would have been disappointed, because Ricardo Montalban really owned that character. I do suspect that this new villain is going to be inspired by Khan as well as the lesser known antagonist Gary Mitchell, also from the original series. Combining Khan’s psychological and intellectual prowess with Mitchell’s super human abilities would certainly make for a one man weapon of mass destruction. The only single entity more destructive than that would be a rogue “Q”, but I’m pretty sure they’re not going to delve into Next Generation territory.
Whaaat? I’m not a trekkie! =P

Definitely not a Trekkie here….. So I’m thinking this is just Sherlock fiddling with space and time while whiling away his time until Season 3.
