We’re less than a month away from “Sparkle” hitting theaters, which is the perfect time for the studio to release the soundtrack. Even though the 11-song album isn’t out til July 31st, you can check it out in its entirety thanks Soundcloud. Featuring vocals by Jordin Sparks, Cee-Lo Green, Goapele and the late great Whitney Houston, the album is full of retro-inspired soulful tracks. Even actresses Tika Sumpter and Carmen Ejojo get in on the action. Who knew they could blow like that?
Houston’s final recorded song was titled “Celebrate,” and it features Sparks, while the only solo song she has on the soundtrack to “Sparkle” is called “His Eye Is On The Sparrow.” Jordin and Whit’s duet was recorded just four days prior to Houston’s untimely passing. “Celebrate” is one of my favorite tracks from the soundtrack, along with the remake of Aretha Franklin’s “Something He Can Feel” from the original 1976 film. It’s almost as good as En Vogue’s cover back in 1992. Of course, nothing can compare to those Funky Divas.
To listen to ALL the tracks, head over to Sparkle’s Soundcloud account.
“Sparkle” hits theaters nationwide on August 17th and the soundtrack hits stores next week on July 31st.
