So, Songza rules. Especially at work right now, I’m not sure how I lived without it. Even yesterday I was cleaning up the house feeling pretty low energy and Songza all of a sudden lifted my mood, because, well, you tell it how you’re feeling. What?
This music app is a wide data base of songs trying to fine tailor to how you’re feeling or what you’re doing, and away it goes. You can either access it from songza.com on your computer, or listen to it through your WiFi on the app on your phone.
Right now I’m at work and decided I needed something other than the regular radio. So on goes my Songza app, and here’s the screen that comes up…
You’re right genius app! It is that time of day! I very well might still be “waking up“, so I press the button fitting my current situation, and I get a series of other buttons to press to keep fine tuning what it is I need: “Bright and Happy Pop“, “Timeless Pick-Me-Ups“, “Indie Pop & Indie Rock“. And of course being me, I choose the latter and even MORE playlists come up. I end up choosing the “Sunshine Indie Pop” playlist because I see, before playing, it has bands like Passion Pit, Walk the Moon, and Santigold, I hit play, and away we go making my late Tuesday morning just that much better.
If you’re looking for something specific that’s not just about the time of day and mood you’re in, you can also hit “explore”, and browse not only by “mood” and “activity”, but by “decade”, “genre”, “culture”, the “record-store clerk”, or “just for you”, giving you suggestions based on what you’ve already listened to. And away it goes with thousands of songs you know, you don’t know but will know and love, and in my case, a LOT of songs that I haven’t even thought about for years and completely forgotten I loved.
Songza is making my Tuesday morning at the mo’, and could make your wakeups, wind-downs, party’s, and housecleaning, a hell of a lot better. Check it out here: Songza.com
