For the first time this season the American public has taken control of who is eliminated each week from SYTYCD, removing the reins from self-proclaimed ‘control-freak’ Nigel’s hands. Thank every god up in the heavens! Finally a chance for America to prove their oft wrong ways are over and finally make things right! Heck, they voted Obama in, so maybe they’ll get it right with who to send home tonight.

The show opened with an amazing Asian-fusion dance routine (to So Much Betta by Janet Jackson). Melissa was on point, in a sort of Geisha-esque costuming. The other girls were adorned in either all black or all red, with the boys wearing solid black. Overall the effect was amazing! Naturally this dance can be accredited to the epically brilliant choreographer Wade Robson and his wife Amanda.

After the opening number Cat Deeley strolled out to divulge the exciting news of the Emmy nominations announced earlier today. NATURALLY the choreographers received a total of FOUR choreography nominations this year! The choreographers and respective routines from last season nominated were; Mia Michaels contemporary routine to Mercy by Duffy danced by Katie and Twitch, Tabitha and Napoleans’ Hip Hop number to Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis danced by Chelsei and Mark (abso-effing-lutely it was!), Tyce Diorio’s Jazz routine to Silence from the Unfaithful soundtrack danced by Jessica and Will, And Dmitry Chaplin’s Tango to A Los Amigos by Los Tangos danced by Chelsei and Joshua. Also, the SYTYCD hair and make-up department from the show were nominated in their respective category!

After these exciting announcements, Cat then went on to state the most amazing words ever uttered on the show, ‘Nigel won’t be on the judging panel tonight, as he is away in England.” THANK YOU BABY JESUS! He’s away getting some honorary doctorate or diploma or driver’s license; I don’t care so I wasn’t listening.

From a high to a low, we then head to the announcements of the bottom two girls, with all five girls standing hand-in-hand. First taken off the chopping block and sent to safety was Janette. Cat then summarized Randi’s performance from the previous night, and followed up by placing her in the bottom two girls. Next in the hot seat was Jeanine (aka. Stunner) obviously sent through to safety. The final two girls facing judgment were Kayla and Melissa. Thankfully Kayla sailed through to safety and Melissa was sent over to join Randi in the bottom two girls.

Naturally, the boys took to the stage next to learn their fate. Jason was first to learn his fate (looking g-damn gorgeous in a plaid shirt I might add!) and was thankfully sent straight through to safety. His primal scream may be one of the sexiest things I have ever heard on SYTYCD – come to my house! Evan was next in line to learn his fate and UNBELIEVABLY was sent through to safety! WHAT?!?! I was still in shock as Cat movesdalong to Kupono, who with no surprise was sent to the bottom two boys. The final two boys, Ade and Brandon, were left to learn their fate and my mind was blowing knowing that one of these men were in the bottom two. Seriously America?! After the nation-wide vote Ade was sent into the bottom two alongside Kupono with Brandon sent to safety. WTF!?

Once again the bottom two girls and guys had the opportunity to perform their solos. I was immediately let down by the first solo by Randi who danced to the same song as her solo from Wednesday night’s performance show and did an almost identical routine. Bad decision, worthy of going home.

INSERT NOTE: During the judges critic for Randi, Debbie Allan announced that she is tired of the Paso Doble on this show. AMEN DEBBIE, AMEN!! Clearly this dance is the kiss of death and when Debbie calls the show on it, I hope that inspires change.

Kupono was next to perform his ‘unique’ solo in yet another one of his ‘unique’ getups. To me, this gimmick is growing tired as once again he’s in the bottom two. The solo was weak at best, and I believe he has already decided he was headed home, as this was written all over his face. A frown face.

Melissa was next to perform her solo AGAIN to Gabriel by Lamb, similar from Wednesday night’s performance show. I’m not sure if the dancers were instructed to do the same choreography as the previous night, but if I were on the show I know I would be doing something explosive if it was my last chance to perform on that stage. Debbie Allan called Melissa on this (thank you Debbie once again) and instructed her that the judges (and America) are clearly looking for more.

The final solo was from Ade, once again identical to the night before. I’m hoping the dancers didn’t join together and decide to all do the same routines from the previous night, as this was a HUGE mistake in my eyes. Boo urns dancers, boo urns.

The Black Eyed Peas then took to the stage to sing their latest SMASH #1 hit, I Gotta Feeling. As Tommy already stated way back when he wrote an article about this song, I’d like to add, EPIC! You could almost see the glaze of Perez’s face on the bottom of Fergie’s shite-kicking-boots! The performance was put together in efforts to promote their upcoming tour with U2 throughout North America, which says a lot for the status of the group!

Sadly, we then got to the final eliminations of the night. First, from the final two girls Randi was sent home from the competition with Melissa surviving another week. I must admit that I have hated on Randi from time-to-time, but overall, she was pretty dang adorable and a little flower in the competition. I don’t know what that even means… how have I just confused myself?! Anyways, the boys were next to learn their fate and my heart was definitely stopping for Ade tonight. THANKFULLY Ade was sent through to safety with Kupono leaving the competition. It truly was great to see Kupono make it this far, but in my eyes he just wasn’t growing as quickly as some of the other dancers.

Farewell Randi and Kupono, we will of course see you on the tour.
