snl-shy-ronnie-rihanna

Last Saturday viewers of the precariously hilarious epic Saturday Night Live were hit with yet another amazeballs music/comedic number. If you remember my all-out “MUST SEE” review of Taylor Swift’s performance a few weeks ago during the opening of the show, you’ll know I don’t lie. One thing to get out of the way: WATCH THIS NOW!! Already, the Taylor Swift video has been taken over by NBC and you can’t link to them through blogs very well (don’t worry I found a good “listen only” version for my past article). Anyway, just make sure you watch this one while the watching lasts!

Back to the video at hand! Andy Sandberg- the resident young jew of SNL and the lifeblood and youth of the whole thing- creates a “Digital Short” every week: a sort of pre-tapped and very often song-filled skit that screams his personality. Past gems include “I’m on a boat” and “Jizz in my pants”: “Rihanna and Shy Ronnie” are absolutely up there, if not topping the charts in my books!

While this short isn’t as celebrity-filled or over-the-top as past favs, it has a subtle but perfectly polished charm to it that kills me every time I watch it! I LOVE finding out that Rihanna has a humorous side to her and even a bit of an actress in there as well! To set the scene, Rihanna is singing to a group of kids in a school room class. Her song is actually very sweet, simple and motivating… she’s also accompanied by “Shy Ronnie”- a supposed rapper. Won’t ruin anything else- you have to see it for yourself but pay particular attention to Rihanna’s speaking parts- while still in sing-song- and the debilated “raise the roof” attempt by Shy Ronnie.

Watch this one a few times boys and girls, you will NOT get tired of it!
