‘Sister Act 3’ Is Happening But Without Whoopi Goldberg

25 years after Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit hit theaters, Sister Act 3 is officially a go. However, as of right now, Whoopi Goldberg isn’t expected to make an appearance. What’s the point, right?

Disney is currently developing another Sister Act flick but not for theatrical release. Instead, it’ll be for the company’s upcoming streaming service, Disney+. Regina Hicks, who’s an executive producer for HBO’s Insecure, and Karin Gist, the showrunner for FOX’s Star, are writing the project.

Sister Act first arrived in 1992 and was a huge blockbuster, earning over $231 million against a $31 million budget. It spawned a successful sequel starring Lauryn Hill and a Broadway musical.

Sister Act 3 is just the latest project announced for Disney+. Live-action television series based on Avenger characters like Loki, Scarlet Witch, Winter Soldier and Falcon are on deck. Also Diego Luna and Pedro Pascal are headlining two Star Wars series- one based on Luna’s Rogue One character and the other titled The Mandalorian about a bounty hunter.
