Shawn Mendes Pays Homage To ‘Lost In Translation’ For His ‘Lost In Japan’ Music Video

Thanks to a new remix from Zedd, “Lost In Japan” is getting a second wind. With a fun visual now here to promote the breezy track, it’s bound to surpass its previous peak of No. 39 on the Billboard Hot 100.

It’s clear Shawn Mendes is a fan of Bill Murray. The 20-year-old Canadian singer takes inspiration from Murray’s 2003 movie Lost In Translation for his new music video. It’s basically a recreation of the movie with Mendes taking in the sights of Tokyo. Stepping in to play the Scarlett Johansson role is 13 Reasons Why actress Alisha Roe.

Compared to his other clips during this era which have taken the less-is-more approach, this one has more of a narrative and elaborate. Watch the “Lost In Japan” music video below.
