Shania Twain Finds Her Fighting Spirit On New Track ‘Swingin With My Eyes Closed’

It’s the summer of Shania Twain ya’ll.

After years away from the spotlight, the country queen returned with the uplifting number, “Life’s About To Get Good.” She then sang about the heartbreak of losing her husband to her best friend on the moody synth ballad, “Poor Me.” On her latest offering, “Swingin’ With My Eyes Closed,” the 51-year-old icon embraces the fighter within. She explains the inspiration behind the island-tinged number below.

“The fighter in me wrote that song,” she says about the song. “I was thinking of a boxer taking a swing, or a baby first coming out with his eyes and fists closed. They can’t even see yet and they’re swinging with their eyes closed.”

Swingin’ With My Eyes Closed,” along with the aforementioned two tracks, will appear on her fifth studio album, Now, out September 29. It marks her first full-length offering in 15 years since Up was released back in 2002. Check out her latest below. Like the others, it’s vintage Shania but with a modern touch.
