Selena Gomez cut her Revival era short to deal with depression and anxiety, the side effects of being diagnosed with lupus. After her highly-publicized break, the 24-year-old singer returned to the spotlight to promote her Netflix-produced series, 13 Reasons Why, and to collaborate with Kygo on “It Ain’t Me.” It appears that Selena is ready to start promotion for her new album
Gomez reunites with Justin Tranter and Julia Michaels (“Issues”) for “Bad Liar” which is the first taste off her forthcoming third solo studio set. Both worked on a majority of songs for her Revival LP.
The sensational bop interpolates the Talking Heads’ 1977 classic “Psycho Killer.” Apparently, both Selena and Julia are obsessed with the rock band. Never would’ve guessed that in a million years. Their obsession paid off because the decision to sample the group was a wise one. The riff is intoxicating.
Gomez also released the accompanying visual in conjunction with the single. Unfortunately, the music video is only available on Spotify at the moment. But based on the previews she shared on Instagram, the clip is a provocative one. Give Selena’s hot new single a listen below.
