FOX Taps Seal To Play Pontius Pilate For The Passion Live

In addition to the Rocky Horror Picture Show, FOX also has another musical in the works. The network gets biblical with The Passion Live, airing on Palm Sunday.

The two-hour musical event taking place live in New Orleans will be hosted and narrated by Tyler Perry. It’s based on a format originally created in the Netherlands. The yearly event has become a pop culture phenomenon in that country.

Seal has joined the star-studded cast. He’ll play Pontius Pilate. Read below to find out who else is starring in the highly-anticipated project.

Also set to appear in the live production are Trisha Yearwood (Mary), Prince Royce (Peter), Jencarlos Canela (Jesus Christ) and Chris Daughtry (Judas). Are you kidding me? Daughtry as Judas!!! That’s amazing. I can’t wait to see who else jumps on board.

Set in modern day, The Passion will follow the dramatic and inspirational story of Jesus of Nazareth, as he presides over the Last Supper, and then is betrayed by Judas, put on trial by Pontius Pilate, convicted, crucified and resurrected. The story will unfold live at some of New Orleans’ most iconic locations, while featuring a procession of hundreds of people carrying a 20-foot, illuminated cross from Champion Square outside the Superdome to the live stage at Woldenburg Park on the banks of the Mississippi River.

The Passion Live is slated to air Palm Sunday, March 20. Are you excited about this production? Sound off below.
