Back in May of 2011, I wrote about Scott Norton, a professional bowler, coming out of the closet as a “gay athlete.” Back in November, Norton competed against Jason Belmonte in Las Vegas at the South Point Convention Center for the 2012 PBA World Series of Bowling Chameleon Championship… and won. He had also beat 48-time champion Walter Ray Williams on his way to the win. This was Norton’s second win. Although it took place in November, it didn’t actually air until this past Sunday.
The following video shows the final shots of the victory. When Norton realized he won, he broke down into tears in memory of a friend that had died. His husband Craig Woodward then came over to him and they kissed and held each other tight. It’s so cool that ESPN showed the touching moment as well.

It’s a great thing. Since it was pre-recorded they had an opportunity to edit it out and they didn’t. The great thing is that it exposes people to our reality that typically may not see such things (those people who DO watch bowling, whoever they are).
