HOW TEAMS MAKE A DIFFERENCE: M·A·C’S STORY
M·A·C Cosmetics is a world leader in the fight against HIV/AIDS and one of the major supporters of the Scotiabank AIDS Walk for Life Toronto. The company’s corporate matching gifts program doubles the funds raised by M·A·C employees.
This year, the M·A·C Toronto team raised its goal by $10,000, demonstrating their steadfast commitment to the Walk.
2010 Goal: $15,000
2010 Funds Raised: $19,129.50 x 2 = $38,259
2011 Goal: $25,000
Accumulated fundraising total (1998-2010): over $200,000
How was the M·A·C team formed?
“M·A·C has been part of the Scotiabank AIDS Walk for Life since 1998. The AIDS Walk is something we look forward to every year. It’s an event that not only creates team spirit but allows M·A·C employees to show their heart and soul in support of ACT.
M·A·C employees all over the world are extremely committed to raising money for the M·A·C AIDS Fund through the sale of Viva Glam; they are also heavily involved with fundraising for HIV/AIDS organizations in their local communities through AIDS Walks all across North America. We are proud to be part of the AIDS Walk and look forward to another successful fundraising year!”
What’s unique about the M·A·C team?
“The M·A·C team is unique because every dollar we raise is matched by the M·A·C AIDS Fund. This is true for all AIDS Walks in North America that have a M·A·C team! Plus, have you ever seen the M·A·C team at the Walk? We are the only team that stops to re-apply our lipstick halfway through!”
How do you plan to achieve this year’s goal?
“We are aiming to get more retail and corporate staff out as walkers, and work harder to get more sponsors, which means more sponsorship dollars. There will also be bake sales happening within our corporate offices and internal contests with incentive prizes for the top fundraisers. We will provide all of our walkers with as much support as possible to help reach our ambitious goal!”
Thank you M·A·C for your ongoing commitment to the Toronto Walk and ACT.
