ABC Reduces Scandal Season 3 Episodes To 18

Gladiators brace yourselves. The number of Scandal episodes for Season 3 have been reduced from 22 to 18. Why would ABC do this? Surely, it’s not due to ratings. The political drama rakes in consistently high ratings. Last night’s episode propelled the show to become the season’s No. 1 broadcast drama in the key 18-49 demo.

Speaking of the episode, what did you think of the jaw-dropping revelation about Mama Pope? It’s all very Alias. Remember Sydney Bristow’s (Jennifer Garner) wickedly delicious mother Irina Derevko (Lena Olin)?

With such great numbers, what’s the reason behind this unfortunate decision. Though she’s never confirmed it, I highly suspect it’s due to Kerry Washington’s pregnancy. I can only imagine how difficult it would be for Shonda Rhimes to craft episodes with Olivia’s limited availability. After all, she is the epicenter of everything. Makes perfect sense to reduce episodes, rather than film substandard OMFG ones. Don’t you agree? Sound off below.

Not surprising given Kerry is due sometime in spring. I guess we can expect less filler episodes from the second half of S3.

No. Not cool at all. I shouldn’t have to suffer because of a decision Kerry Washington made. She decided to get pregnant. That should only affect her and her family. I wish them the best, but there are probably hundreds of people that are responsible for the production of Scandal and it seems ridiculous to put all those actors, crew members, producers, writers, etc. out of work because of a decision one person made. And I don’t mean to sound heartless but she signed up for this. This is what it means to be the lead on a hit TV drama. If she wanted maternity leave or the ability to just take a break whenever, she should’ve looked into some other profession.
