Congratulations to Sara Gilbert and Linda Perry. Spring, from what I’ve seen, usually brings a slew of proposals or breakups. Luckily for these two, it brought the former. The Roseanne star revealed she’s engaged to 4 Non Blondes singer on today’s episode of The Talk. The two have been dating for roughly two years. How adorable are they sporting almost identical haircuts?
Who proposed to whom? The 38-year-old talk show host revealed, Perry’s surprise romantic proposal went down over a picnic in the park. The 47-year-old songwriter’s proposal involved their breakup song, neighboring picnickers, string instruments, a bunch of specially-designed t-shirts and a surprise appearance from an 80s English pop star. Listen to Sara’s recount of her memorable day below.
If you can’t see the embedded video above, here’s the play-by-play.
“I’m sitting there listening and I’m kind of daydreaming and I’m thinking like, ‘If I ever proposed to her this would be an amazing way to do it,’ ” Gilbert said. “The people picnicking next to us pull out string instruments from under the blanket, walk over and they start playing ‘Love Song.’ ”
“She goes to her backpack and she pulls out these T-shirts and the first T-Shirt says ‘will’ and then puts on another T-shirt and it says, ‘you,’ then ‘marry,’ ‘me.’ And the last one’s a question mark,” Gilbert said to the delight of the audience and her teary-eyed costars. “It’s the most amazing proposal ever.”
Before they left the park, Perry surprised her once more by introducing John Waite, who played “Missing You.” “We had our proposal with our breakup song,” she said, “which is great.”
What do you think of the proposal? I love both The Cure’s “Love Song” and Tom Waite’s “Missing You” so in my books, it’s a winner. Sound off below.
