Grey’s Anatomy is losing an original cast member in 2014. Out of the OGs, only Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson, James Pickens, Jr., Patrick Dempsey, Sandra Oh and Ellen Pompeo remain. Isaiah Washington was fired after Season 3, and T.R. Knight and Katherine Heigl left after Season 5 and Season 6 respectively. Sometime during the ABC show’s tenth season, one of the aforementioned six is bidding adieu to Seattle Grace Hospital. Find out who below.

Say it isn’t so. Sandra Oh who plays the prickly, yet brilliant surgeon Cristina Yang is hanging up her scrubs. Here’s what she revealed in a statement.

It’s been a great privilege to play the character of Cristina Yang on GA and I am both sad and excited to see where this, her final season will take her,” Sandra Oh said in a statement. “It was an emotional and deeply creative decision for me and I feel fully supported by Shonda and the writers. It’s so rare in an actor’s life to be able to explore and grow a character so fully, so completely. I am profoundly grateful to everyone at GA for the opportunity.”

“Creatively, I really feel like I gave it my all, and I feel ready to let her go,” Oh told The Hollywood Reporter, which first announced the news. “It’s such an interesting thing to play a character for so long and to actually get the sense that she wants to be let go as well. [Cristina] wants to be let go, and I am ready to let her go. We have to start the process, story-wise, for the Grey’s writers to think of why she’s going to go.”

Question remains, will Oh be the only one departing ship? The two-year contracts for original cast members Dempsey, Pompeo, Chambers, Wilson, and JPickens Jr. all expire at the end of the upcoming season. I predict Sandra won’t be the only one. Even if they all leave, ABC has made it clear that it has every intention of airing Grey’s Anatomy for many more years, similar to what NBC did with ER.

Will you miss Oh? Can Grey’s survive without Meredith Grey (Pompeo) or McDreamy (Dempsey)? Sound off below.
