“Writing’s On The Wall” hasn’t made much of an impact stateside (yet) unlike it’s predecessor “Skyfall” by Adele which do so immediately. Admittedly, I didn’t instantly fall in love with Sam Smith’s 007 track, but it’s slowly growing on me. The recently-dropped music video is pitch perfect and makes me appreciate the single more. Exactly what a music video is supposed to do.
Luke Monaghan who directed Smith’s “I’m Not The Only One” films the 23-year-old singer visiting various spots throughout Rome. In between clips of Sam dramatically lip syncing, footage from Spectre are shown. More specifically, scenes of Daniel Craig bedding his new Bond Girls- Monica Bellucci and Léa Seydoux.
Fittingly enough, the “Writing’s On The Wall” visual premiered today on Global James Bond Day– the theatrical release anniversary of Dr. No. Check out the clip below which perfectly captures the mood and drama of Smith’s soundtrack contribution.
