Ryan Murphy just can’t away from the music. The “Glee” co-creator is currently in talks with Sony Pictures for a brand new feature length musical comedy. Titled “One Hit Wonders“, the film will focus on three recording has-beens from the 1990s. Each scored a top hit single during the decade and have now come together to form a super group in hopes of making a comeback on the Billboard charts.

Even though there is no script nor a signed deal for the tentative project, several big names have been attached to the film. Reportedly the idea came about when Murphy was having dinner with three A-list actresses. The three ladies wanted to “do something fun together” and brainstormed with Murphy til the idea of “One Hit Wonders” came to fruition. Curious to know which three ladies want to tap into their inner pop stars? Keep reading to find out.

Brace yourself for this piece of awesomeness. Gwyneth Paltrow, Cameron Diaz and Reese Witherspoon are the trio currently attached to the project. I love all three and think this film has huge potential considering Ryan Murphy along with his “Glee” co-creators, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan are involved. Murphy hasn’t had a misstep in years with “Nip/Tuck“, “American Horror Story” and the aforementioned “Glee” all receiving critical and public acclaim. And if Diaz, Witherspoon and Paltrow weren’t enough for you. Rumor has it, Beyonce Knowles and Andy Samberg are also jumping on board for unspecified movie roles.

Even though, nothing is concrete yet, I predict this will definitely be made. Murphy has a seven-figure deal with Sony after propelling “Eat, Pray, Love” to box office success. In addition to writing and directing the film, he’ll also serve as a producer along with Paltrow. Let’s just hope it’s a lot better than Paltrow’s last foray into feature music-themed films. “Country Strong” anyone?

Can you just picture Reese in the center of this group with Cameron and Gwyneth on either side of her? I can’t wait for the dance choreography these ladies will bust out. We know Paltrow and Reese can sing, I’m curious to hear what Cameron has in her vocal repertoire. How excited are you for this film? Sound off below.
