Rumors of this have been circulating for some time now. Ryan Gosling officially confirmed his participation in Blade Runner 2 in an interview with Collider.
The 35-year-old actor will join Harrison Ford in the highly-anticipated sequel. While Ford reprises his role of Agent Rick Deckard, no word on what character Gosling will tackle.
Sir Ridley Scott who directed the original won’t helm the sequel. Instead Prisoners director Denis Villeneuve will take over while Roger Deakins will act as cinematographer.
The film is a continuation of both the film Blade Runner, and the novel upon which it was based, Philip K. Dick’s Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? It’ll reportedly take place several decades after the conclusion of the original.
Production is set to begin mid-2016 with no release date yet confirmed. Watch Ryan’s interview below.
