FINALLY! FINALLY I CAN TALK ABOUT THIS!
I have been DYING to share everything about this episode ever since I saw it weeks ago (thanks to LOGO for the treat) and let me tell you, I was as shocked as the rest of you. Let’s get right down to the biggest news of this season.
SHANGELA FROM SEASON TWO IS BACK…W.T.F?!?
That was the monster surprise of season 3 so far, and after seeing that anything really is possible this season. In a previous post, I wrote about each of the queen and named some of my top queens. Now after watching the first episode, I’m going to name who I think have the best opportunity in going far. (Don’t hate me the rest of you)
We met all of them in the workroom as per usual, and the one that blew it out of the park was Mariah. That bitch is SO fucking sexy I can’t even stand it. And there’s just something about her that I LOVE so much. OF course I saw some familiar faces (Venus, Raja, Delta, Phoenix) and some new ones I came to know more (Yara Sofia) some stood out to me as exceptional (Mariah) and others faded into the background (Stacy). We learned a little bit about each of them, and found out the Shangela (still can’t believe it) got invited back. OH! Phoenix and India has the same wig…THE SAME FUCKING WIG CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!
I.WAS.DYING.

After Ru welcomed them via video, they went off to a trampoline photo shoot (where Raja won) and we found out their challenge. It’s a Christmas challenge…lol. Come on Ru it’s January, you couldn’t have chosen something current?
They went to a thrift store (in day drag…again Mariah looked amazing) were given a small budget and their challenge. Christmas couture using only things they found in the thrift store. So there’s the sewing challenge.
Once in the workroom, that’s when the fun starts. We find out that Phoenix and Venus both have the same idea (did someone steal from the other…no one knows), Raja is confident and cool, Mariah has the best glasses ever and Mimi can’t sew to save her life. Ok, why OH WHY would you enter this competition if you can’t sew? You should know better, first challenge is ALWAYS a sewing challenge. Bad Mimi, BAD! She cried, Mariah and India helped her out..blah blah.

Down to the runway. Ru TURNED it out with Vanessa Williams…YES! What a GREAT judge. Santino is back, Mike Ruiz is back and Michelle Visage (the new judge) joined the panel. Carmen came out wearing almost nothing (I just don’t get how she tucks…I don’t), Manila came out looking cute, one by one the girls walked down the runway. It wasn’t until Mariah came down that our whole viewing party gasped. There were so many WEEEEERKS going in that room it was insane. Finally Raja (who is no stranger to the runway clearly) walked down and everyone gagged again. Shangela flubbed it…again. Why was she invited back?
The top and bottom were Raja, Manilla, Mimi, Carmen, Venus & Shangela (again..WHY was she invited back?). The loved Mimi & Manilla, like Carmen, hated Venus & Shangela, and Raja won.
Venus and Shangela had to lipsync in what is going down in history as the most awkward lip sync ever. I actually couldn’t even watch the first time I saw it. Why WHY did they drop the ball like that? Venus threw her wig, Shangela was walking all over Venus, Shangela HIDEOUS lamp dress was used as a weapon…it was a mess. Honestly Ru should’ve sent them both home. Sadly, Venus left…and that killed me. I ADORE Venus, she’s SO sweet and is actually incredibly talented. Shangela was asked to stay, and I totally saw that coming because Ru wouldn’t send her home again first (even though she should’ve).

So here are my picks – but I always get them wrong.
Alexis
Delta
India
Manila
Mariah
Phoenix
Raja
Yara
I am not naming bottom because that’s just too mean…even for me! But I’m not feeling Stacy AT ALL, or Shangela. She HAS TO pull it together because she got the chance of a lifetime…AGAIN!
And don’t forget to come to The Helm Vancouver every Monday night where myself and Robyn Graves are hosting Vancouver’s RuPaul’s Drag Race viewing party, and stay tuned every week as I interview each of the girls that got kicked off!

You left Shangela’s name out of the poll for favorite queen. Hmm… was that intentional?
Aside from that, episode one was fabulous! Glad to see Shangela back and Mariah is FIERCE!

Yes Carlos,
She was given a chance and blew it. I wouldn’t be so hard on her except that she did pretty much the exact same thing this season. That’s it honey.

OK, the queens I’m rooting for atm:
Manila!
Mariah!
Carmen!
Predictions:
I think Phoenix and Mimi will be the next 2 to go (no particular order), India after them?
