Even though William Shakespeare died almost 400 years ago, he’s set to have a huge year in 2013. Not only does he have one adaptation of his works hitting the big screen but he has two. Joss Whedon is tackling Much Ado About Nothing and Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellows is creating yet another retelling of Romeo and Juliet. The film is scheduled to hit theaters in the UK on July 26 with no US date confirmed.
Playing the tragic lovers this time around are Oscar-nominated actress Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit) and Douglas Booth (LOL). The two are joined by an impressive cast including Ed Westwick, Paul Giamatti, Natascha McElhone, Stellan Skarsgard and Damian Lewis. Italian director Carlo Carlei filmed across locations in Mantua, Verona and Rome. It looks absolutely beautiful. Unlike Baz Luhrmann’s frenetically awesome version, this one stays truer to the original work. Check out the leaked trailer online below before it gets pulled down.
