It’s not a 100 percent done deal yet, but Robert Pattinson is one (huge) step closer to playing the Caped Crusader. Deadline reports the 33-year-old actor just passed a major hurdle.
If director Matt Reeves had his way, Pattison would’ve been signed a long time ago. The Twilight actor was the director’s frontrunner to helm his superhero flick. However, Warner Bros. was torn between him and Nicholas Hoult. After both actors were screen tested, Pattison won over the studio.
Pattison is now reportedly in final negotiations for a three-picture deal, starting with The Batman which is set to arrive June 25, 2021. The Batman will be an origin story, ergo the younger casting decision.
The news comes on the heels of another casting shakeup in the DC Extended Universe. Rumor has it, Henry Cavill has departed as Superman.
