‘Benson’ Star Robert Guillaume Dead At 89

Robert Guillaume has died at the age of 89. The two-time Emmy winner passed away at his Los Angeles home due to complications from prostate cancer. He is survived by his wife, Donna Brown Guillaume.

Guillaume is best known for playing the wise-cracking butler Benson Du Bois. The character first appeared on Soap and then later in his own spinoff, Benson, in 1979. His other memorable roles include Sports Night, voicing Rafiki in The Lion King, First Kid and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera. His most recent TV roles include CSI, 8 Simple Rules and Moesha.
