The CW Gives ‘Riverdale’ An Early Season 2 Renewal

Greg Berlanti’s subversive take on the beloved Archie Comics gets top marks from The CW. Riverdale will live to see a sophomore season. It’s the only freshman series on the network to receive a season renewal. Not that surprising since it’s performing much better than fellow rookies Frequency and No Tomorrow.

Riverdale is averaging a 0.4 rating among adults 18-49 and 1.16 million viewers the night it airs. A week of DVR and on-demand viewing factored in, the numbers jump to 0.8 and 2 million viewers. Reportedly, it’s one of the network’s most streamed shows on The CW’s digital platforms.

Riverdale joins seven veteran CW shows to secure a spot for next season- Arrow, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, The Flash, Jane the Virgin, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl and Supernatural. Will the latter ever make it to the television graveyard? I think not.

The drama stars Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, Madelaine Petsch, Luke Perry, Marisol Nichols, Madchen Amick, Ashleigh Murray and Sarah Habel, but it’s KJ Apa who’s the main draw.

The 19-year-old actor is pure jailbait. There’s at least one scene per week where he’s without a shirt. Berlanti knows what draws in teen girls and horny gay men 😉 Check out some of KJ’s finest moments below.
