When Rita Ora first teased her all-star collabo featuring Bebe Rexha, Charli XCX and Cardi B, “Lady Marmalade” immediately came to mind. Though fantastic in its own right, “Girlsf” is not a bombastic number like the Moulin Rouge classic.
“These past few years I’ve been so inspired by all the strong women I’ve seen who aren’t afraid to be themselves,” she shared in a press release. “For those who aren’t afraid to rule the world, this is our anthem. A celebration of love. And of course thank you to all the fellow boss women who so kindly graced this song with me—each representing who they are and where they are from.”
Ora also reveals her empowering bisexual anthem was inspired partly by her own sexuality and by one of her favorite songs, “I Kissed a Girl.” “That was the first song anyone heard of Katy Perry’s, and it was just such a statement; it was so fun,” she told PEOPLE. “I wanted to do something that was in that lane.”
Give the mid-tempo number a listen below. Reportedly, the accompanying visual has already been shot. In fact, Cardi B’s scenes were filmed just this week, a day after the Met Gala.
