Promotional pranks for horror films like this have become quite common lately. The hilarious telekinesis stunt from years ago to promote the Carrie remake is still one of my favorites. Even though I’d probably have a heart attack if I was subjected to one of these scary stunts, I love watching other people freaking out.
Paramount Pictures set up an elaborate prank to promote its upcoming horror sequel Rings. The victims, in this instance, are a bunch of unsuspecting people shopping around for a new television. While distracted by the salesman, the horror franchise’s iconic ghoul, Samara, pops out from the wall and scares the bejesus out of them. Watch the reactions of unsuspecting customers below captured by hidden cameras.
A new chapter in the beloved Ring horror franchise. A young woman becomes worried about her boyfriend when he explores a dark subculture surrounding a mysterious videotape said to kill the watcher seven days after he has viewed it. She sacrifices herself to save her boyfriend and in doing so makes a horrifying discovery: there is a “movie within the movie” that no one has ever seen before.
Matilda Lutz, Alex Roe, Johnny Galecki, Aimee Teegarden, Bonnie Morgan and Vincent D’Onofrio star in the F. Javier Gutierrez-directed sequel. Rings terrorizes moviegoers on February 3, 2017. Check out the prank and trailer below.
