Real Housewives: New York’s Season 5 Trailer & Vancouver’s Record Setting Premiere

Love them or leave them, “The Real Housewives of New York” are back for another season of drama. I’m a Housewives junkie so I’m loving it. I finally got around to watching the special episode of “Watch What Happens Live” where cast members of all the different franchises (minus Miami & DC) were on hand for an All-Star Bravo Party. I was texting back and forth with a friend in Seattle, and we were absolutely loving the fact you had NeNe Leakes, Lisa Vanderpump, Gretchen Rossi, Caroline Manzo and others all in the same room. Where was Teresa Guidice? Is she still in Donald Trump’s boardroom? The entire time, we wished we were in Andy Cohen’s shoes. That lucky beyotch.

Given that half the RHONY cast was cut after Season 4, the upcoming season seems refreshing. You have half the cast filled with veterans in LuAnn de Lesseps, Sonja Morgan and Ramona Singer mixed in with a trio of new blood with Aviva Drescher, Carole Radziwill and Heather Thomson joining the cast. Given that I have no idea who these three women are, getting them sorted out in my head required me to watch the trailer a couple of times. I’m curious to see how this new dynamic will resonate with viewers. It can’t get any worse than seeing Kelly Bensimon, Jill Zarin and Alex McCord going at it for the upteenth time.

Before I share the Season 5 trailer, I just want to congratulate the Real Housewives of Vancouver for setting television records. Canada’s first installment of the Housewives series attracted more than 1.2 million viewers. Given that Canada has a far smaller population than the US, those are boffo ratings. That number also represents the biggest for any Housewives series to air on Canada’s Slice network beating out the RHONY, RHONJ, RHOA, RHOC and RHOBH ladies. Well done to Christina, Jody, Rieko, Ronnie and Mary. If the ratings continue, I expect these five ladies’ drama to air on Bravo in the near future. Get on it, Mr. Cohen. Check out a few pics from the premiere party we attended with the RHOV cast.

Catch all the action when “The Real Housewives of New York” returns on June 4 with a special 90 minute season premiere. I can’t wait.
