Since Revenge is airing its winter finale tonight, I thought it was a perfect time to write this post. The inspiration for this came to me while I was nursing a flu recently. Nothing brings me back from the brink of death more than chicken noodle soup and watching old movies on Netflix.
While watching 13 Going on 30 for the umpteenth, I recognized one of the cast members from the ABC drama. Have any ideas on whom? Thankfully for IMDB, I didn’t have to rack my brain for hours trying to recall where I knew this person from. Seriously, what did we do before IMDB and internet?
After I figured out who it was, I decided to research what other roles the cast of Revenge played prior to their current ones. Do you know who starred in two Jason Bourne movies? How about, who starred in a movie, coincidentally titled Revenge? How’s this for a head-scratcher… who hooked up with Amy Winehouse? Find out the answers to all these below.
Long before Madeleine Stowe played the deliciously evil Victoria Grayson she starred in a different Revenge. The raven beauty was the love interest in the Kevin Costner vehicle Revenge released in theaters in 1990. Other memorable roles in Stowe’s career are 12 Monkeys, The Last of the Mohicans and one of my favorite guilty pleasures, Bad Girls. The latter was a western about four prostitutes played by Stowe, Andie MacDowell, Mary Stuart Masterson and Drew Barrymore.
Prior to masterfully plotting revenge as Emily Thorne/Amanda Clarke, the Canadian actress starred in two long-running dramas- ABC’s Brothers & Sisters and The WB’s Everwood. Before hooking up with Revenge co-star Joshua Bowman, VanCamp found love on the Everwood set and dated co-star Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation) briefly. If you’re of a certain age, you might remember Are You Afraid of the Dark? Emily guest starred on the Nickelodeon co-produced teen horror series.
It’s hard to imagine bisexual Nolan Ross as the hunky love interest in a teen flick, but he was. Gabriel Mann played Alan M. in the live adaptation of the popular comic book Josie and the Pussycats. Remember that horrible flick starring Tara Reid, Rachael Leigh Cook and Rosario Dawson? Mann also appeared in four episodes of Mad Men and hung out with Matt Damon in The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy.
Age has certainly been kind to Nick. He looks even better now than when he played Sheriff Jim Valenti on the cult hit Roswell back in 1999. After that WB show ended, Wechsler guest starred in numerous shows including Malcolm In The Middle, Tru Calling, Cold Case, Crossing Jordan, Without a Trace and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
This British actor appeared in a couple of series that I never watched including UK series Holby City and ABC Family’s Make It or Break It. Before Revenge, Bowman was probably better known for his famous dalliances which included So Undercover co-star Miley Cyrus and Amy Winehouse. I’m still wrapping my head around that Winehouse hookup. If you want some sexy pics of Joshua Bowman, be sure to check out my Man Crush feature on him.
Even though he plays Declan Porter on Revenge, Connor Paolo will always be remembered for playing Eric van der Woodsen on Gossip Girl. I know I do. I still call him Eric when referring to him on the ABC show. Since I’m a hardcore Law & Order: Special Victims Unit fan, I also remember him from his two appearances on the show. Once in 2002 and the other in 2006. Until writing this post, I completely forgot he appeared as the young Alexander in the Angelie Jolie-Colin Farrell epic Alexander.
Christa B. Allen
Two words. Jenna Rink. It’s almost embarrassing to admit I’ve seen 13 Going on 30 too many times to count. It’s one of my comfort movies when I’m sick or nursing a really bad hangover. Even though I’ve seen it countless times, it wasn’t until I saw it recently that I finally recognized Christa B. Allen. She played the 13-year-old version of Jennifer Garner’s character. Allen’s other credits include guest stints on Grey’s Anatomy, ER, Wizards of Waverly Place and Cold Case.
Czerny has a knack for playing evil effortlessly. It’s no wonder he’s often that “bad guy” in movies. A couple of those instances include starring alongside Tom Cruise and Harrison Ford in Mission: Impossible and Clear and Present Danger respectively. To list the Canadian actor’s other credits would take forever, but a couple of notable ones include TV series The Tudors and motion pictures The Exorcism of Emily Rose and The Ice Storm.
I first came to know Ashley from the ill-fated Ashton Kutcher-helmed The Beautiful Life which lasted only a couple of episodes on The CW. The British beauty’s biggest role prior to Revenge has to be Secret Diary of a Call Girl which starred former pop star Billie Piper.
Were you surprised by any of the Revenge cast’s previous roles? If so, which ones? Did I miss a memorable role by any of them? Are you watching Season 2 of the ABC drama? Sound off below.
