Given that I was missing in action for a good chunk of the summer, naturally I missed a lot of news. Here’s my quick attempt to catch up on all the renewals and cancellations that transpired. Let’s kick things off with the most recent and work our way back.
Just yesterday, Netflix renewed GLOW (a personal favorite) for a third season. The streaming service also recently greenlit Grace And Frankie (Season 6) and Altered Carbon (Season 2). Another favorite of mine Pose also received the go-ahead for a sophomore season.
Other programs forging ahead include Castle Rock (Season 2), Fargo (Season 4) with Chris Rock to star, AMC’s Better Call Saul (Season 5) and Fear The Walking Dead (Season 5), Amazon’s Sneaky Pete (Season 3) and The Man In The High Castle (Season 4), Lifetime’s You (Season 2), Wynonna Earp (Season 4) by Syfy, Paramount Network’s Yellowstone (Season 2), Cloak & Dagger (Season 2), Starz’s Sweetbitter (Season 2) and TNT’s Animal Kingdom and Claws for Season 4 and Season 3 respectively.
Unfortunately, there were several shows that received the axe as well. E! sacked The Royals after its fourth season, USA Network sacked Shooter starring Ryan Philippe after three runs and pulled the plug on Colony after three as well. NBC also bid farewell to Trial & Error (Season 2), Timeless (Season 2) and The Champions (Season 1). Other shows also heading to the television graveyard include The Dangerous Book For Boys (Amazon), Famous In Love (Freeform) and Ghosted (FOX).
Homeland and The Affair also announced their final runs. The former will end after Season 8 while the latter will do so after Season 5.
Which renewal has you the happiest and which cancelled has you the most bummed? Sound off below.
