It’s a homecoming of sorts for both Marc Cherry and Reba McEntire. Cherry created the massive hit Desperate Housewives for ABC, while the country singer starred in the short-lived sitcom, Malibu Country. The two are joining forces for a potential new nighttime soap for the alphabet network.
The yet-untitled drama is “described as a Southern Gothic soap opera that is set in motion after a suspected act of terrorism happens at a Fourth of July parade in the small town of Oxblood, KY. The FBI sends a cocky agent of Middle Eastern descent to investigate. He teams with the mercurial local sheriff to uncover secrets far darker than either could have ever imagined,” according to the Hollywood Reporter
Reportedly, there were multiple parties bidding for this project. In the end, ABC beat the competition and with it came a script-plus-penalty commitment.
It’s still in its infancy, but I’m already excited for this. I predict it’ll become my next guilty pleasure. After all, I loved Desperate Housewives and still watch Cherry’s other series, Devious Maids. How about you? Interested in checking out this drama? Weigh in below.
