Sharon Stone, Cynthia Nixon & More Get ‘Ratched’ For Ryan Murphy’s New Netflix Series

Ryan Murphy first announced his intentions for a prequel series to the Oscar-winning film, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, back in September 2017. Ratched is an “origins story, beginning in 1947, which will follow Nurse Ratched’s journey and evolution from nurse to full-fledged monster. The series will track her murderous progression through the mental health care system.” Just ahead of shooting, which begins in two weeks, Murphy revealed the talented cast joining his leading lady Sarah Paulson in the series.

“RATCHED” on Netflix starts shooting in a couple weeks. On behalf of myself and Ms. Sarah Catharine Paulson who plays the title role and is also a big fancy producer on it, we are thrilled to announce our amazing cast…a true murderers’ row of talent. So many of these actors are supremely talented folks who Sarah and I have both longed to work with,” the 53-year-old producer stated.

So who’s joining? In alphabetical order, Jon Jon Briones, Charlie Carver, Judy Davis, Harriet Harris, Cynthia Nixon, Hunter Parrish, Amanda Plummer, Corey Stoll, Sharon Stone and Finn Witrock. Ryan also teased more to come as well. Dang!!! Talk about a cast. Like Murphy, I can’t wait to see Sarah, Cynthia, Judy, Amanda and Sharon all do scenes together.

Ratched marks Murphy’s first collaboration with Netflix. Reportedly, the streaming service was victorious in a heated bidding war with Hulu and Apple for the series which immediately scored a two-season 18-episode order.

Michael Douglas, who was an executive producer on the original, will return to co-exec with Murphy. Like he does with all his projects, Murphy will direct the first episode.

Thoughts on the cast? Excited for Ratched to arrive? Sound off below.

I’m surprised he never gets Lea Michele for anything when they seemed so close.
