When you think of Randy Travis, I’m sure you think of that country singer who sang the gospel-like track “Forever and Ever, Amen,” or at least I do anyway. So, imagine my shock this morning when I woke up and read that Travis had been arrested for a DWI. That’s the last thing I ever thought the country star would be caught doing.
This isn’t Randy’s first run-in with the law. Back in February, Travis was arrested outside his Baptist church in Dallas, TX when he was found by police drinking an open bottle of wine inside his car. This time around, Randy grabbed the police’s attention when he crashed his Pontiac Trans Am in a one-vehicle accident. According to reports, the DWI wasn’t the only interesting part of this solo crash. A 911 caller provided information that Randy Travis was naked and laying in the street.
When highway patrol arrived, they said “Travis had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and several signs of intoxication.” Even further, Randy “made threats to shoot and kill the troopers working the case,” which turned into a retaliation felony charge. Travis also refused a Breathalyzer test and was forced by the court to give a blood sample. Bond was set at $1,500 for the DWI charge, and $20,000 for the retaliation charge. Randy Travis has since been released from custody. Talk about a wild night. This is the kind of stuff country songs are made of. Check out Randy’s awful mugshot from last night below.
