The unnecessary reboot of the classic 80s flick, “The Karate Kid” opens this weekend and what better time for the original Karate Kid to film a video. Ralph Macchio rose to the stratosphere after the success of this film. With classic lines like “Wax On, Wax Off” and “Sweep The Leg, Johnny“, the film is still as recognizable as it was then.

Besides appearing in “My Cousin Vinny” and a small role as Hilda’s politician boyfriend on “Ugly Betty“, the former pin-up boy has relatively remained out of the public eye. What’s the reason why? And why didn’t his career maintain the same level of A-List status? Funny or Die answers that question with this LOL video. Here’s the official description:

In his new movie, Ralph Macchio faces his toughest challenge yet; to become a Hollywood bad boy. With Karate Kid returning to the big screen, his career fading his friends and family are forced to stage an intervention. In order to re-establish himself in the entertainment industry he hits the streets of Los Angeles to show everyone how tough he can be. Coming soon, “Wax On, Fuck Off”

How awesome was that video? I loved the fact Molly Ringwald and other 80s pop culture references popped up in the video. As an older man, Macchio can’t quite get the same punch out of the infamous “crane” karate move. Perhaps, he should consider pilates or yoga. I don’t mind a good remake or reboot, but the new Karate Kid looks just awful. If anyone sees it, I’d love to hear your thoughts about it.
