TRUST ME. This will make your day. I was introduced to this amazing music video last weekend by one of my good friends, Carson. Neither he, myself, nor my group of friends hanging out at my house are of Korean descent, but it literally blew our minds even without understanding a lick of the lyrics. In fact, we thought he was saying ‘condom style‘. Instantly, we were all obsessed with the song, especially the dance moves. Apparently, we’re not the only ones. The invisible horse dance that K-Pop star PSY (real name Park Jae Sang) does in the clip is catching on. Nelly Furtado recently performed it at a concert, and Dodger fans all stood up recently at a ball game to do imaginary giddy-ups.
Naturally, “Gangnam Style” is at the top of the K-Pop Hot 100 chart. But you’d also be surprised to know it’s No. 2 on Billboard’s YouTube Charts (yup they have a chart for that). It’s sandwiched in between Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” and Justin Bieber’s “As Long As You Love Me” at No. 1 and No. 3 respectively. Since “Gangnam Style” was posted on YouTube on July 15, it’s amassed 50 million views and counting.
As you would expect, legion of fans around the world are posting videos of themselves doing the viral dance. The choreography is quite simple. Watch it below and you and your friends will be itching to film an appreciation vid as well. Personally, I much prefer the side shuffle move following the invisible horse dance. You’ll know what I’m referring to the second you see it. Without further ado, I bring you “Gangnam Style“. You’ll thank me for it.
Seriously, how much fun is that? You can’t help but smile watching this grown man doing the choreography. PSY’s music video will do more for equestrian sports than the recently held Olympic Games. Don’t you think? What was your favorite moment? Sound off below.
