As any true Project Runway fan knows, the long awaited premiere for Season Six finally airs on Lifetime this Thursday. Yippee. I’m also one of those hardcore fans waiting with bated breath for the season to finally begin. For the first time ever, there will be a companion show highlighting the models which will air in conjunction with the show. The companion show titled, Models of the Runway, will give everyone a no-holds behind the “seams” look at the design competition from the model’s perspective. Once again, the models will strut their stuff and vie to be paired with the winning designer to claim the $25,000 from L’Oreal Skin Genesis and the all important fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine. Models of the Runway promises to deliver to viewers an unprecedented look from the models’ point of view. You too will experience the drama, anxiety, tears, joys and frustrations as the models face elimination week-to-week.
Ever since Project Runway Season 1 model, Morgan “Morganza” Quinn terrorized the her season’s designers with her over-the-top antics and fierce runway walk, I have often wished we’ve gotten to see more of the models and their shenanigans. Over the past few seasons, there have been some brief moments when the models have been highlighted and bitched about their designers. Far too few IMHO. So as you probably predicted, I am over-the-top elated that the move to Lifetime has prompted the producers and network to launch this companion series. Having a separate show for the models allows us to get to know the walking mannequins and their drama (cuz you know there is drama) without taking anything away from the flagship Emmy-nominated designing competition. Bring on those stilettos ladies and let the “Cat”walk begin. Woooooooork.

I’m am so surprised that there are so many of the models who don’t list a favorite model. Seriously! That makes no sense. As we’ve seen time and time again on ANTM you have to do your research and know some of the legends if you want to take your career seriously. I completely have no respect for models who don’t know anything about their industry besides the partying and socializing aspect. If you don’t know any, be like a few of the other girls and pick Heidi Klum and suck up. I love me my Heidi but a serious high-fashion model she ain’t. You always gotta have a couple who like to kiss ass.
My early faves would have to be Vanessa Fitzgerald (love a girl who loves Girl Talk), Lisa Blades (Linda Evangelista as her hero and Right Said Fred as her favorite song… YOU GO GIRL) and Kalyn Hemphill (Christy Turlington is epitome of beauty)
Are you as excited as I am about the three hour premiere this Thursday? What part of the premiere are you most excited about? The All-Stars Challenge, Season Six Premiere or Models of the Runway?

Ugh. Slice doesn’t start airing the PR episodes until September 12. Good thing I finally learned how to torrent.

I’m hoping that it either shows up on Hulu or on the Lifetime website and re-route my IP so I don’t have to wait til Slice takes their pretty ass time to air it.
