Post Secret Video

Hopefully you’ve heard of the uber popular website, Post Secret. If not, here’s a quick synopsis: People send in post cards to the website with intimate secrets written down. It’s all done anonymously, and I guess it’s supposed to be therapeutic to both the authors and the readers.

You can find some pretty wild confessions on there. Some extremely funny, many self-loathing, but always interesting. All-American Rejects even used the same theme for their video “Dirty Little Secret“.

Well, Post Secret recently filmed a series of video confessions. It sort of takes a bit of the anonymity away, but it also introduces another level of personal connection. When the secret is written down on a post card, you have to use your imagination to figure out whether it’s coming from a male or female, young or old, etc. etc. With the visual of the confessor, it gives you a sort of “judge a book by its cover” clue into more of the story behind the confession.

I really enjoyed just the quality of the images. I’ve recently been getting more and more into photography, and it’s allowing me to notice stuff on film that I never really appreciated before. Stuff like depth of field, focus, lighting. The crispness of the frames, and the sharp changes in focus I think really help make this video extraordinary.

My favourite confession is the one girl’s reply to her (boy?)friend confession he ran over her cat.
