If you love Portia de Rossi on Scandal, it’s your lucky day. Her character, Elizabeth “Lizzie Bear” North won’t be hibernating anytime soon. The 42-year-old actress has been promoted to series regular for the ABC drama’s fifth season. She revealed the news in an interview with TVLine.com.

“I’ve been here for the entire season, so, honestly, I already feel like I’m part of the family. It would’ve been very sad for me not to come back. And to come back with a guarantee of a few more episodes than [I was in this season] is really fantastic. It’s just a great ensemble cast. And we’re all really excited about the show — still. I came on as a fan, but all the actors are just as excited as when they first started the show. And I love Shonda Rhimes. I love Shonda Rhimes.” Portia tells TVLine.com

In my opinion, her character was a little uneven and all over the place. However, she really grew on me in the last few episodes. Loved that she threw both Mellie and Cyrus under the bus to further her agenda. Hopefully, writers continue this trajectory. I love a bitchy de Rossi. She plays that role quite well.

Excited to see more of Portia? Did you watch the finale? I did but found it a little tame. Slightly disappointed that there was no OMG cliffhanger. Plus, I prefer her with Jake than Fitz. Most of their episodes pack more edge-of-your-seat roller coaster excitement than last night. Weigh in below.

  • Haha I can love a movie without thinking the actors are blockbuster names. And let’s be honest, where Julia Roberts and Sandy Bullock get listed as A, people like Ellen Page and Seth Rogan as B, the names involved here aren’t reaching any higher than C. It’s just a classification of fame and $$ not at all talent. Just a notoriety rating.
And sitcoms are awesome haha, I didn’t at all mean it derogatorily: this is a situational comedy.

I think Fitz is the worst human being on the planet….after Cyrus.

He was right to fire Cyrus for working with the man who killed his son. But think he’s being overly harsh on Mellie. She genuine handed the list over to help the team as much as herself and she didn’t know what it was for.

And the way Fitz treated her was a bit hippocritical….I mean he did shoot down a plane of innocent people, went to war over one women, etc.

Also…curious to find out if Mellie will ever find out Rowan is Olivia’s father and responsible for killing her son,
