While I wish Camila Cabello stuck it out with Fifth Harmony, for at least another album, leaving the group was clearly a wise decision. Her record label is really supporting the 20-year-old singer by landing her a solo Billboard cover and other high-profile appearances. Their latest coup involves a featured guest spot for Camila on a big soundtrack.
Cabello joins J. Balvin and Pitbull on “Hey Ma,” featured on The Fate Of The Furious soundtrack. Originally, that’s not what the lineup was supposed to be. Mr. Worldwide explains all to Radio.com.
“At first, it was me and Romeo Santos, Britney Spears was on the record,” Pitbull told Radio.com. “[The] Fast and Furious [team] ends up loving the record. And they brought onboard J Balvin and Camila Cabello. So, it’s been an interesting journey. To watch it go on to become the intro to the movie — the first huge movie franchise to shoot in Cuba — is an amazing honor.”
Love Brit, but Camila is clearly the better choice given the Latin vibe of the track. Spears would’ve felt out of place, IMHO.
The accompanying visual for the Spanish version of “Hey Ma” has just dropped. It looks like the trio are having the time of their lives in Havana, but in reality, they’re just in Miami decorated to look like the Cuban capital. Check it out below.
Expect the English version and corresponding video to drop as the April 14 release date of the racing franchise’s 8th installment arrives.
