The first teaser for the fifth installment of the swashbuckling franchise didn’t feature Johnny Depp at all. Instead, it showed Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem) asking Henry (Brenton Thwaites) to relay a threatening message to Jack Sparrow (Depp).
“Find Sparrow for me and relay a message from Captain Salazar and tell him, ‘Death comes straight for him.’ Will you say that to him? Please?,” he instructed. The new trailer reveals Salazar’s motivation. He and his crew met their untimely deaths when they met Jack as a boy. Now that he’s a ghost, he’s out for revenge.
Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is a rip-roaring adventure that finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea, notably Jack. Jack’s only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifully small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has ever faced.
Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg direct the action flick, which also stars Kevin R. McNally as Joshamee Gibbs, Golshifteh Farahani as the sea-witch Shansa, Stephen Graham as Scrum, David Wenham as Scarfield, Geoffrey Rush as Captain Barbossa and Orlando Bloom returning as William Turner. The latter skipped the last film, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales sails into theaters on May 26. Check out the new trailer below.
