With exception to her Sia/Stargate and Kenny Chesney collaborations, and recording tunes for The Ellen Show and Alice Through the Looking Glass, Pink has remained relatively away from the spotlight. That all changed today. The 37-year-old powerhouse kicked off her new era with a sensational offering. Welcome back Alecia Moore.
“What About Us” is the lead single off her forthcoming seventh studio album, Beautiful Trauma, arriving October 13. It’s an athemic ballad with pounding drums and gorgeous synths. “What about us/ What about all the broken ever afters?/ What about us/ What about all the plans that ended in disaster?,” she sings on the emotional number.
“I could not be more excited right now. My single comes out today “what About Us” and my new album “Beautiful Trauma” comes out October 13th. I’m certifiably, insanely proud of this album. It’s been a while, and I’m grateful for all the years we’ve had. Looking forward to the next chapter with you”, Pink wrote on Instagram.
Beautiful Trauma is her first full LP since The Truth About Love released back in 2012. Reportedly, she co-wrote all 13 songs on the album, working with a variety of songwriters and producers, including Jack Antonoff, Shellback, Max Martin, McDaid, Mac, Julia Michaels, Greg Kurstin, busbee and others.
If you listen to Top 40 radio stations, expect to be inundated with the track today. Several of them are playing the single every hour. Check out “What About Us” today.
