If the US government listens to the will of the people, then a certain British celebrity should really considering relocating back to the United Kingdom. Over 80,000 people (as of publish time) have signed a petition to deport this Brit on the official White House website. Here’s what the official petition states:
British Citizen and [blank] is engaged in a hostile attack against the U.S. Constitution by targeting the Second Amendment. We demand that [blank] be deported immediately for his effort to undermine the Bill of Rights and for exploiting his position as a national network television host to stage attacks against the rights of American citizens.
Since the petition has garnered more than 25,000 signatures, it now requires an official response from the White House. Curious to know who’s the subject of the ire of gun-totting Americans? Keep reading to find out.
It’s CNN talk show host Piers Morgan. Following the school shooting in Newtown, Conn., Morgan has been an outspoken advocate for gun control. When he heard about the petition, Piers tweeted “This is why I am facing deportation from America.” In a town hall meeting discussing gun violence in America, he said the following:
“I’ve made my own views clear on my show — the senseless killing has to stop. High-powered assault rifles of the type used at Aurora and Newtown belong in the military and police, not in civilian hands. High-capacity magazines, too, should be banned. And background checks on anyone buying guns in America should be comprehensive and stringently enforced.” – Piers Morgan
Piers shouldn’t be too worried about being deported. On the White House website, there are a few ridiculous petitions including building a Death Star. Coincidentally enough, there is a petition to keep Piers in the country. That, however, has received far, far, far less than the one to deport him. LOL.
