To start off Vancouver Pride on the right foot, the Homorazzi cast decided to throw it’s first annual Pride Weekend Kickoff Party. Vancouver was experiencing record breaking high temperatures all week and people were looking for a place to cool off. Cue a Loden Hotel & Homorazzi meeting of the minds and coming up with a brilliant idea to hold an afternoon event at the boutique hotel’s breathtaking penthouse.
Belvedere Vodka was the official liquor sponsor for the event and the wicked bartending staff at the hotel concocted a Homorazzi-themed drink, “Mauve It, Mauve It”. The Loden Hotel was gracious enough to donate $1 from every drink purchased to Homorazzi’s favorite charity, Friends for Life. Friends for Life is a local charity who’s mission is to serve as a catalyst to enhance the wellness of individuals living with a life threatening illness by providing complementary and alternative health and support services. On this night we were able to raise $500.00 for this worthy cause.
The party filled up pretty fast. In fact way faster than we thought since it was our first official party on our own and we weren’t sure what the turn out would be. We were quickly informed after a couple of hours that the penthouse had reached capacity and people were being directed to the main lounge of the hotel. I want to take this time and apologize and thank those who came and weren’t able to partake in event upstairs. We already have a way to correct this for our second annual party. Richard, our Loden liaison, informed us that this was by far their busiest night for Mercury Rising, their weekly Thursday night event.
Special shout outs go to the Loden Staff for being the most gracious staff I have ever encountered. They really kept their cool despite the record-breaking heat, long bar line-ups, and the massive amounts of people they had to weave through. I would also be remiss, if a special thanks wasn’t given to Homorazzi’s own resident DJ Landon James for providing aural and visual pleasure with his wicked tracks and buff shirtless body. What a trooper. And most of all, HUGE THANKS to everyone who showed up and supported us. We are humbled by your continued swell of support.
Be sure to check out the Loden Penthouse Party Photo Gallery and the video from event. This is my first attempt for making an event video for the site. Normally, Patrick takes care of the video editing but since Vancouver Pride was insanely busy, I offered to take one of the jobs from him. What teamwork. Hope you enjoy my first stab at this.
