Patti LuPone Says Madonna Is ‘Dead Behind The Eyes” & Throws More Shade

If anyone’s an expert on playing Evita, it’s Patti LuPone. After all, the 69-year-old actress won the Tony Award for Best Actress for her role as Eva Perón in the 1979 original Broadway production of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical. During a visit on Watch What Happens Live, the Broadway legend threw major shade at Madonna who played the First Lady of Argentina in the 1996 musical.

“I was on the treadmill. You know when MTV used to have music videos, right? I saw, I believe it was ‘Buenos Aires,’ and I thought it was a piece of s***. Madonna is a movie killer. She’s dead behind the eyes. She cannot act her way out of a paper bag. She should not be in film or on stage. She’s a wonderful performer for what she does, but she’s not an actress. Bing!” – Patti Lupone

Yikes. She didn’t hold back, did she? Patti went all in. That was just the tip of the shade iceberg. Patti also dissed the film adaptation of Les Miserables starring Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway. However, there was one actress LuPone praised. Watch the two clips below to find out who.
