Behind The Cast: ‘DNA Magazine’ Gives Homorazzi’s Patrick Some Love

Patrick, my friend and partner in crime with whom I founded Homorazzi.com with, has encountered a lot of change in 2013 thus far. After a breakup in early spring, Patrick decided to take a break from writing on the site full-time and focus on other areas of his life including family, fitness, friends and fun. He had been feeling that he lacked a work/life balance and fitness & nutrition seemed to no longer be incorporated into his lifestyle as it had been in the past. With that in mind, earlier in the year Patrick joined CrossFit to try something new with respect to his fitness and immediately loved it. We could all tell by the amount he posted about it on Facebook (haha). Outside of that change, he also found his birth mother and half brothers and sisters in May. He had only found out last year that he was adopted. A couple months ago, he met his birth mother for the first time in person and the meeting went very well.

Zoning in on the fitness aspect of his life, Patrick decided to mark the milestone of six months of progress from his new fitness and nutrition routine by taking part in a photo shoot with Mike Carter of Maplecarton Photography. The photos were picked up by DNA Magazine in Australia earlier this week and featured on their website here. Looks like all the hard work paid off! I’ve also included a before and after picture so you get a rough idea of where he started. Check out some of the photos from the shoot below.

Patrick – Before & After

In 2012, Patrick used to fit comfortably in what were his “favorite” jeans shown on the right. Quite the change!

Let me guess – 5″7 or below, right?

    Classic short man complex.

These people drive me nuts. You go over to their house and you’re tripping over fitness magazines and they have an array of these large plastic powder containers. Half of what they talk about is their fitness routine or what they’ve read in those magazines you’ve stubbed toe over. They carry water in their own container EVERYWHERE (dude, they sell water here – put that thing away), take 20 minutes to order harassing the poor waitress about the salad dressing, and can never go out late because they ‘have to run at 5am’ the next day. They always find a way to incorporate a tank top into any summer outfit, jeans are a little too tight to show off their barely there bulge, and reek of Axe body spray and sweat – always!

Oh, I can go on and on.

Ok. my dear gay men, You must know something:

This boy isn’t gay, He’s totally straight, JUST LIKE all the male models and the male hunks in the world.

A gay man couldn’t be gay.

Because is not gay man? genes, have good body, since NOT have the genetic information that allows develop. None of homosexuals cited. Bear in mind , the homosexual brain has similarities with the brain of a woman both ANATOMICAL and physiologically.
Homosexuals have no or little secrete sex hormone (testosterone and androgens) that enable them to man’s body, therefore, 100% of homosexuals show female? traits and behaviors have sharp timbre, have accumulation of fat in adipose tissue, muscle flaccidity and finally present that are female characteristics.

The risk with gay and bisexual men to develop overweight, obesity, diabetes, hypertension and heart disease are 40 times higher than? heterosexual men. Moreover, homosexuals are 40 times weaker for the year, 70 times more awkward for sports, and are variable in the gym, so I leave ALL.

Finally, it is incompatible to be homosexual and have good body. ALL of this is simple and straightforward matter of logic and common? sense, does not investigate, because anyone knows this.

    Dougg,

Oh give Patrick a break. It seems that he has gone through a life-changing year. We all deal with the stresses of life differently, and for him, he deals with it through upping his fitness routine. That’s a positive way of dealing with change and I think that it’s good to congratulate people on that.

  • Sean

    Wait which one is he?

  • I don’t know which comments made me laugh more – DouggSeven who is clearly just bitter and jealous or ??? who is just… insane? Would that be the word? Sure, let’s go with that. XD

P.S. Way to go Patrick – you are actually gay and look fantastic and if you do carry water in your own container you’re doing something good for the environment too. lol

  • Andrew

So typical…What’s with all the bitterness? Geez!
How about a Good for you, great job Patrick!

  • jolincas

“???” is just insane. I’m in shock with that level of insanity.

    Wow… haters gonna hate!

Being from the East coast I just happened to discover about Homorazzi two years ago and I must say I was immediately intrigued to learn more about Patrick. I became not only a fan of his gorgeous smile and his ‘makes me weak in the knees’ dark eyes but I also discovered a sensitive, passionate, smart and driven man. Patrick is a great entrepreneur and an amazing advocate for gay rights. I think he deserves a lot more credit to what he represents for the Vancouver gay community, or for the gays in general! Although I don’t know him personally and can only make my statement from what I can observe, Patrick seems to have to ‘nice guy’ label on his forehead.

I think what he is accomplishing for himself at the moment is truly inspiring for any of us and he deserves nothing less then a good tap on the shoulder. I don’t really care that my message is sort of over the top sucking-up type of deal but I am just honest when I say that looking up at Patrick success or looking at him as a person only makes me want to work harder and be a better man.

GET SOME PATRICK! Good for you dude!

    DouggSeven-Please, just shut up.

???-I am not sure if you are being serious. You sound, off. I think you need more critical thinking courses.

  • Patrick

Thanks for the support and kind words guys! @MitchellM – wow I really appreciate that!! It has been an eventful year and I’m grateful that I have found something that I enjoy doing that has had a positive impact on my life in many ways.

I’m 5’5″, gay, don’t subscribe to fitness magazines, and when I’m eating out, I’ll choose the fries over the salad with my burger… with a side of mayo for dipping my fries into.

I don’t carry a water bottle around everywhere, but if I did, I wouldn’t care what other people thought about it.

Also, I have never worn Axe Body Spray in my life. LOL.

  • Jimmy

All I could think about is “wow, I wish I looked as good as his before pictures”.

    Bravo…

  • Patrick your looking great and you probably feel great and it shows!!

And please dont even explain yourself to people like that… If they wanna judge they will judge… No matter what you do…

    *two thumbs up!*

  • *you’re* 😀

  • Justin

I think I know where the first 2 posters are coming from. It perhaps has to do with the contradictory messages in our community regarding body image.

Patrick is now privileged in terms of the gay hierarchy in beauty. Now privilege is not a bad thing:it just is. I’m privileged in society based on my higher education. Because of that, some people who are not privileged in terms of physical appearance, i.e. do not have a six pack or am muscular, are going to project onto him their own insecurities and feelings of exclusion from the gay community.

It’s unfair to Patrick because he didn’t get in shape to screw anyone over. That being said, it is not a bad thing if the gay community can make everyone welcome and appreciated, even those who do not fit the fitness model type.

It’s unfair and mean to hate fit and beautiful people just for being fit and beautiful. At the same time, however, let’s love everyone of all shapes and sizes.

Kudos to you Patrick! Pics look great, you look phenomenal. Sorry to hear about the rough year but you will pull through it!
