Back in July, we got our first glimpse at what to expect from the upcoming Disney film, Oz: The Great and Powerful. Now a full trailer has been revealed and it has definitely lured me down the yellow brick road and I can’t wait to see this film!
The movie is directed by Sam Raimi, the director of the Spiderman trilogy and stars James Franco as Oscar (the Wizard of Oz in the making), Michelle Williams as Glinda (the Good Witch of the North), Mila Kunis as Theodora (the Wicked Witch of the West) and Rachel Weisz as Evanora (the Wicked Witch of the East). The movie looks as thought it will live up to any expectations you may have of this film doing this classic tale justice.
In this part of the story, Oscar is dragged into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants. He has to figure out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. He puts his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity, and even a bit of wizardry, and in doing so he transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well. This film, with a $200 million budget, hits theatres on March 8, 2013. Check out the awesome trailer below!

I don’t understand, was’t the Wicked witch’s name Elphaba?

After some research I found out that this film is just another re-imagination of what is thought to have happened before Dorothy enters the scene and meets the characters later introduced on the Broadway musical ‘Wicked’ ….which explains why Elphaba doesn’t make an appearance in this film and those other 3 witches do …Here’s an excerpt from an article I found “While Gregory Maguire’s Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West tells the origin story of the great and powerful (and green) Elphaba, Sam Raimi’s Oz the Great and Powerful will focus on Oscar Diggs, the man who would go on to be the Wizard of Oz. This evidently happens after he’s hurled into Oz and forced to prove his worth as a wizard before three witches (played by Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz and Michelle Williams)”
