A few weeks ago, Disney wowed us with the visually striking poster (above) for Oz: The Great and Powerful. Regardless if the prequel matches the awesomeness that is The Wizard of Oz, there is one thing guaranteed. The Sam Raimi-directed motion picture is going to be a beautiful feast for the eyes. This is definitely one of those movies worth forking over the cash for the 3D big screen experience.
The Mickey Mouse studio just unveiled character posters for the four main characters. James Franco as Oscar Diggs aka Oz is dashing in his solo artwork. Michelle Williams is beautifully angelic as Glinda, the Good Witch of the South, while Rachel Weisz as Evanora, the Wicked Witch of the East is stunningly mysterious. Meanwhile, Mila Kunis as Theodora, the Wicked Witch of the West is a bit… odd for lack of a better word. It doesn’t even look like her and to be frank, her face looks a little plump. Check out all the solo pics of the cast below.

Which one is your favorite? Though, Rachel Weisz has hinted she’s the witch that turns ‘green’ there is still speculation that it could be the other two, especially Kunis. What are your thoughts? Are you excited to see the Wizard of Oz prequel? Sound off below. Oz: The Great And Powerful hits theaters on March 8, 2013.

This makes no sense to me. According to Wicked, book and play, the west witch’s name is Elphaba. To add to this, her sister was born without arms. Are we just going by different logic here? Or what?

Wicked was a different interpretation of the story of the wonderful wizard of Oz. The author of Wicked named the wicked witch in honor author of the originally wizard of Oz L. Frank Baum. (L Fa Ba) and basically Oz the great and powerful isn’t based off of Wicked.

@Tyson The only person who would ever have the right to definitively make decisions about this universe and mythos has been dead for nearly a century. Everything else is interpretation including this movie and all other movies based on the stories and all iterations of Wicked.

@Tyson Wicked, the book and the musical, had it’s own agenda with the Wicked Witch. I have nothing against that, but it set it against Baum’s original vision for the character. In the book The Wonderul Wizard of Oz the Wicked Witch (who is never given a name) is unambiguously a villainous character. That’s not the case with wicked, where Elphaba is turned into an anti-hero in the book and an outright heroic character in the musical. So in that sense this movie is actually more true to Baum’s version of the universe than is Wicked (though that doesn’t make it better.)

I still don’t care. I want to care, but i don’t. I was so let down with Alice in Wonderland and Charlie and the Chocolate factory, and i know Rami isn’t Burton, but to be honest i don’t really like Rami movis anyway. Plus, James Franco still seems like a bad casting move.
