I’m not sure how many of our readers are daytime soap fans, but thought I’d share this bit of casting news anyway. Most likely, I’m not the only one who grew up watching soap operas back in the day. Whether as a child keeping my grandmother company or squeezing an episode here and there during my university days, I’ve kept tabs on the residents of Llanview and Pine Valley on One Life To Live and All My Children respectively. I have to admit, I’m a bit intrigued with this new phase of their runs.
When ABC announced the cancellations of these two long-running soaps, fans were understandably upset. Luckily for them, Prospect Park stepped in and promised to transition the shows online. The company even secured contracts with some of the key actors to continue their roles. Then, for some reason regarding one of the acting unions, it proved too costly to move forward. Just when the project looked dead, an agreement was formed breathing new life in the online relaunch over at TheOnlineNetwork.com.
Prospect Park just announced revealed a number of returning actors heading back to Llanview. Most notably, Erika Slezak and Robin Strasser are reprising their roles of Victoria Lord Buchanan and Dorian Lord respectively. A few other One Life To Live returnees include Kassie DePaiva (Blair Cramer), Tuc Watkins (David Vickers) and Hilary B. Smith (Nora Buchanan). Sadly for All My Children fans, the confirmed list is a bit thinner for that soap. Susan Lucci, Cameron Mathison and Michael E. Knight haven’t agreed to return (yet). Check out all the returning soap vets below. Prospect Park reports that more cast confirmations are to come in the coming weeks.
Were you a fan of these two soap operas growing up? Do you think many of their fans will follow them online? Sound off below.
