The people from Red Nose Day asked the boys from One Direction to visit Africa, to see for themselves how, for thousands of babies, a simple vaccine costing just £5 can mean the difference between life and death. They were not prepared for what they were about to see.
The group travelled to Accra, Ghana in support of Comic Relief, which raises money for the disadvantaged, and their annual Red Nose Day event. Zayne Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Niall Horana were all there to support. They spent time with babies that were so skinny and weak because they were dying from not having had an important vaccination. Unfortunatley, their families couldn’t afford them.
It was so overwhelming for Malik who fought back tears outside the hospital saying, “It’s so hard. I’ve never seen anything, never experienced anything like this in my life.” Watch the emotional video below.
